My Experience #

The room #

Room Layout
Room Layout

The layout of the toilet is very well thought out. The sink lies directly outside the toilet and the toilet / shower area is separated. Although the room was of decent size, it was a bit of a squeeze when we open our luggages at the same time.

Breakfast #

Hotel Breakfast
Breakfast from Dormy Inn Premium Kitahama

The hotel breakfast was relatively ok. The main attraction that stood out was the beef. However, the cook time is relatively slow and it is wildly popular among the other hotel guests as well.

The beef is their seasonal special and may change in the future. The other food is similar to other hotel breakfasts and was mediocre.

Ramen Time (at 21:00 to 23:00) #

They provide a free ramen from 21:00 to 23:00 in the hotel breakfast area for all guests (even those who did not order breakfast). I would highly recommend everyone to try this ramen at least once. It is of decent quality and is very satisfying after a long day of exploring Osaka.

Onsen/Laundry #

The onsen is a great experience. On the guy’s side, there was 1 large hot bath, 1 large warm bath, 1 small cold bath, a sauna and 3 chairs for people to rest in. On the girl’s side, 1 large warm bath, 1 hot tub, 1 small hot bath and a sauna.

Similar to other onsen places, those with tattoos (temporary/permanent) are not allowed to soak in the onsen baths. Please take note of this before booking the hotel.

There was 3 dryer/washers combination on the guys side with 4 on the girls side. There are no shared dryer/washers in the shared area with the guys and the girls.

Outside the onsen area, there are lockers to store our items and a seating area with seats to wash up, complete with disposable shavers, combs and other items for cleaning up.

The washing does not cost any money but the drying was 100yen for every 30 minutes.

For the guy’s side, I had no trouble securing a washing machine slot to wash my clothes, before going to the onsen, I will toss my clothes into the washing machine and start it. After I have completed my onsen, it will be just in time to move them into the dryer.

The laundry area was usually packed with many people using them. To guarantee that you have a spot for your laundry, you will have to go down to the counter at level 1 and borrow a key from the receptionist to lock your washer/dryer up to prevent other people from using them. However, it is also ok to wash/dry your clothes without borrowing the key. Just remember to collect your clothes on time so that it won’t be in the basket for clothes left too long.

Massage Chair #

The massage chair is a popular place for hotel guests to gather after they have completed their onsen session. During the evenings/nights, it is usually full of hotel guests which are using the massage chair with some even queuing to use them.

The massage chair offers 4 different types of massage methods, each lasting for 15 minutes. It is very relaxing and is a good way to end the day before sleeping.

If the chairs are available, I would highly recommend taking a break and relaxing in them.

Conclusion #

Overall, I feel that Dormy Inn Premium Kitahama is a good hotel to stay in for anyone who enjoys onsen.
